Kitab afkomstig uit Ethiopië.

Elke beschermende amulet - ook bekend als Kitab of Kitabe - werd met een specifiek doel speciaal vervaardigd voor een individu. Meestal werd zo’n kitab gemaakt van geitenhuid die tot perkament was verwerkt, zoals ook in dit geval. De tekst op de rol is vrijwel altijd geschreven in handgemaakte zwarte en rode verf of inkt, in het Ethiopische Ge'ez, een taal die tegenwoordig alleen nog voor religieuze doeleinden wordt gebruikt.

De rollen werden beschreven en gedecoreerd door religieuze schriftgeleerden, debtaras (ongeordende geestelijken), of priesters. Ze bevatten christelijk georiënteerde gebeden, verhalen of relevante teksten uit Ethiopische christelijke manuscripten en Bijbels. Ook zijn er veel invloeden van inheemse religies in de teksten verwerkt, doordrongen van magie. Soms zijn er afbeeldingen toegevoegd, en vrijwel altijd staat de doopnaam van de persoon voor wie de rol was gemaakt erop vermeld. 

De Ethiopisch-Orthodoxe Koptische Kerk staat het vervaardigen en dragen van deze amuletten officieel niet toe, mede vanwege de vermenging met inheemse Afrikaanse religieuze praktijken.

Dit exemplaar vertoont serieuze sporen van ouderdom en gebruik.
