A very fine antique 4/4 master violin, labeled Joannes Baptista Guadagnini fecit Parmae serviens C S R 1771. The instrument is in ready to play condition with tears, wears and some old, professionally repaired cracks on top. Good rosewood set up, new bridge and new strings. The violin has an excellent straight high to medium grained spruce of the top and one piece back of wavy flamed maple with matched sides. Rich golden brown varnish shows an amazing wooden choice. The whole length of the violin is 588 mm and the back 360 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 169 mm; middle bouts: 115 mm; lower bouts: 209 mm. Full size. The sound is very deep, rich, powerful, suitable for soloist.
