Description from the seller

Pair of carved tribal figures – Man and woman with headgear – Hand-carved wood, circa 1950–1970

Object: Two carved wooden figures (pair)
Origin: Southeast Asia (probably Indonesia, Bali, or Java).
• Material: hardwood, finely polished
• Technique: Hand-carved, with ornamental bands on the headgear.
Representation: Seated couple (male/female) with ritual headgear.
• Epoch: Mid-20th century (approx. 1950–1970)
Condition: Very good condition with light, authentic patina and minor signs of aging.

Beautiful pair of traditional tribal figures made from hand-carved hardwood, presumably of Balinese or Javanese origin. Both figures – man and woman – are depicted in a seated position and wear elaborately carved, pointed headpieces with ornamental engravings. The clear, symmetrical design language and the warm brown polish give the figures a harmonious, meditative aura.

A characteristic example of Balinese folk art from the mid-20th century, decorative and collectible.
