A beautifully preserved and fully authentic Rolex Air-King Ref. 5500, produced in 1972, showcasing one of the most sought-after and elegant dial tones of the era — the rare blue-grey (slate blue) dial.
Under daylight, the dial reveals a subtle metallic blue tint that shifts to a deep charcoal-grey indoors — a highly collectible transitional color among vintage Air-Kings.

Condition Report
	•	Dial: Original blue-grey dial in excellent condition. All text crisp and clean, with the “Air-King” signature in silver script. Tritium hour plots have aged to a warm and even patina — completely untouched and unrestored. (Check the last photos look at the beautiful blue/grey dial)
	•	Hands: Original baton hands matching the tritium tone of the markers; no corrosion or oxidation visible.
	•	Case: Stainless steel, 34mm (excluding crown). Very well preserved with sharp edges and correct proportions; shows only light, honest signs of age — never over-polished.
	•	Crystal: Acrylic, clear and clean, minimal micro-scratches only.
	•	Crown: Original signed Rolex coronet crown, screws and winds properly.
	•	Bracelet: Original Rolex “Flex” expanding Oyster bracelet, U.S.A. made, stamped C+I 1-65, in remarkable condition with firm elasticity — a rare survivor from its time.
	•	Movement: Rolex Caliber 1520 automatic. Service history unknown, but the watch is running smoothly and keeping good time.
	•	Serial Number: 289XXXX – dating to 1972.
	•	Reference: 5500 engraved between the lugs.

	•	Exceptional overall condition with an honest vintage character — clean, and mechanically sound.
	•	Fitted with a period-correct 1965 Rolex Flex bracelet, adding further collector value.
