1/4 oz Gold Coin "Snake" 2025 (Proof) Lunar III – Year of the Snake (Australia)

The sixth issue of the Australian gold Lunar III series from the Perth Mint will be released in 2025. Each year, the series is based on the signs of the Chinese lunar calendar. The 2025 gold coin depicts a snake.

The coin's obverse features a polished finish. On the left side, bamboo stalks grow upwards across the coin's surface. Characteristic grooves between the sections of the stalks, as well as small branches and elongated leaves, are also visible. The Perth Mint's "P" mark is visible between the bamboo and the left edge of the coin. A snake is coiled around the bamboo stalks in the foreground. Its skin is scaly, its belly is striped, and its head is turned to the right, revealing one eye. The snake has a smooth, glossy appearance, in contrast to the matte lettering.  The latter coin features the Chinese character for snake and the inscription "SNAKE 2025" between the animal and the right edge of the coin.

On the reverse, the image of King Charles III makes its debut in the Lunar III series. This matte portrait is displayed against a polished background. Facts about the issuing country, "AUSTRALIA," the face value, the purity of 25 DOLLARS, the fineness of 99.99% gold, and the weight of 1 oz are inscribed around the image.

Animals of the lunar zodiac are said to bestow their qualities upon those born during their respective reigns. As the sixth of twelve symbols, the snake is believed to bestow wisdom, intelligence, independence, and charm.
