A seven‑piece early twentieth century sewing and embroidery collection from Belgium and France, featuring Lammens Brussels stamps, a Recko album with 161 filet patterns, a 1905 school sampler, and an 1899 white and blue linen sampler with aged patina.
Description from the seller
Very rare collection of embroidery and sewing items from around 1900.
- 4 rare vintage embroidery rollers with stamps, marked 'Lammens, Brussels'
Collection album from the 'RECKO' collection with 161 embroidery examples, specifically cutwork, published in Paris by Boucherit publishing house, dimensions = 32 x 45 cm.
Likely a sewing sample used in school to teach sewing and stitching in 1905, where simple stitches were learned; fine batiste with stitched pleats, edged with fine lace on one side, and a linen piece with initials BV 1905 in cross-stitch.
A white with blue fine cotton embroidered cloth from 1899, on which more complex sewing techniques were performed (buttonholes, hooks, embroidery...).
This last item, more than 100 years old, shows signs of aging with small holes scattered across the cloth. This weathered appearance contributes to the antique charm of the artwork.
