A single miniature page from a 16th Century Safaivid Persian Koran, with 12 lines of black naskhi script separated by a chapter heading written in gold thuluth script.  Multiple aya (verse markings) in gold separate out the verses.  Diacritical (devotional markings) in red mark the scripture for the benefit of the devotee in prayer. 

The folio contains the final verses (v.12-14)  of the Medinian chapter 61, As-Saff (The solid ranks), the header of chapter 62, Al-Jumu'ah (Friday Congrgation) and the first two verses of that chapter in which the words emphasise God's absolute sovereignty and wisdom, and the role of the Prophet Muhammad as a messenger sent to guide humanity. The final verse of chapter 61 outline the rewards for striving in the cause of Allah and use the example of Jesus' (Isa) disciples to call believers to be supporters of God. 

The folio is miniature which indicates it would have been carried by a follower and used for his daily devotion. It is I good condition for its age, with clear script and few devotional marking.
