This striking hand-made ceramic vase by José Marcelo Prado, a master artisan from Chulucanas, Peru, blends traditional craftsmanship with the mystique of ancient geoglyphs.

The vessel features bold, carved reliefs inspired by the world-famous Nazca Lines — enigmatic figures etched into the Peruvian desert thousands of years ago. The turquoise and deep-blue engravings of the bird and the monkey wrap fluidly around the vase’s rounded form, their silhouettes outlined in dark incised lines that enhance depth and movement.

The background is a textured wash of yellow and soft green, mottled with speckles that evoke desert earth and sun-bleached stone. This layered surface gives the vase an aged, almost archaeological presence, as though it were unearthed from a sacred site.

Prado’s signature is inscribed on the base:
