Description from the seller
Philippe Kerlo is a French photographer and artist known for his powerful, styled portraits and fashion photography. His work operates at the intersection of art, beauty, and visual seduction, often playing with contrast, sensuality, and identity. Kerlo's images are carefully staged and recognizable by their refined use of light, perfect framing, and an almost sculptural approach to the human body.
This work shows an intriguing close-up of an eye visible through an open piece of black leather with a rough metal zipper. The zipper forms a theatrical frame line, making the viewer look as if through a narrow opening. The glossy texture of the leather contrasts sharply with the soft skin and the refined detail of the makeup around the eye.
Dimensions of work with frame: 78 x 78 cm
Dimensions of the work without frame: 50 x 50 cm.
Viewing is, of course, possible. Additionally, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. Furthermore, we collaborate with restorers from the professional organization: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you wish to make use of this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
