Museum-Quality Pair of Vienna-Style Hand-Painted Porcelain Vases, Bloch & Co., Bohemia/Austria | c. 1900 | Mythological Allegories | Opulent Polychrome & Raised Gilding

A distinguished and highly refined pair of turn-of-the-century Vienna-style vases, attributed to the celebrated Bloch & Co. manufactory (Austria / Bohemia), circa 1900.
Executed in the mature phase of the Viennese historicist revival, these works exemplify the opulent taste of the Belle Époque aristocratic salons of Central Europe.

Decor & Iconography
Both vases feature masterfully hand-painted mythological allegorie, finely enamelled, with softly modelled flesh tones, classical drapery, and a lyrical, Arcadian landscape backdrop. The scenes recall the iconographic traditions of the Imperial Vienna Porcelain Manufactory, echoing the style of Wagner School miniaturists.

The bodies are richly embellished with:
Sage-green matte ground punctuated with gilded “sprig" flowers
Lavish ruby-carmine upper and lower reserves with gold tracery
Scroll-worked handles, hand-gilded, with Baroque revival influence
The execution demonstrates fine painterly control, especially in the rendering of figures and chromatic transitions.

Attribution
Marked underside with characteristic arched underglaze stamp and painter’s marks in carmine enamel.
Attributed to Bloch & Co., established 1870, known collaborators and successors to C.M. Hutschenreuther in Bohemia, suppliers to Viennese markets.
