Display side with screwed-on brass scale and thermometer glass tube.

After the discovery of Pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb in 1922 by Howard Carter, a worldwide surge of demand for acquiring exotic items broke out.
This obelisk with a thermometer was also produced from this time.
