Federpyrite is a special form of pyrite that forms as a pseudomorph after pyrrhotine, where the pyrite adopts the crystalline structure of pyrrhotine and often appears as fine, feather-like veins within a matrix such as baryte or quartz. These minerals, mainly derived from resin, can be used to make jewelry pieces like pendants or sold as cut and polished specimens. They are characterized by a shimmering, metallic-golden or silvery-gray appearance.
