Door handle - 1850-1900 - XL Solid Brass Knobs

Large Antique Solid Brass Door Knobs (Pair) – In Excellent Condition – No Reserve A magnificent and high-end quality pair of large 19th-century solid brass door knobs, salvaged from a historic canal house in the city of Delft. Dating from approximately 1850–1870, these impressive knobs display richly detailed floral and foliate reliefs in the Victorian Rococo Revival style — a decorative movement known for its elegant curves, acanthus leaves, and deep ornamentation. Such large and heavy brass knobs were typically used on prominent entrance doors or distinguished interior rooms in Dutch townhouses of the period. Their generous diameter of 10 cm and substantial weight give them a remarkable presence, both visually and in the hand. The rare pair can be used separately or mounted together as a complete door set. Each knob retains its original threaded spindle section with nut, making installation straightforward. The brass has developed a beautiful, warm golden patina, accentuating the depth of the relief and the craftsmanship typical of mid-19th-century Dutch metalwork. Condition In excellent, complete, and preloved condition with an authentic aged patina. Please see the many photos for an accurate impression of this lot. Provenance Salvaged from a 19th-century canal house, Delft (The Netherlands) Private collection Dimensions (each knob) – Diameter: approx. 10 cm – Depth: approx. 11 cm – Weight combined: approx. 1.15 kg – Length of thread: approx. 6 cm The spindle features a screw thread onto which a bolt can be attached. A true eye-catcher in any home, office, or restoration project — an exceptional and decorative example of mid-19th-century Dutch brass craftsmanship.
