Description from the seller
Welcome to this special sale of books by authors listed in the Photobook by Parr & Badger. 'La Banlieue de Paris' is listed in Photobook, volume I, pages 187 and 201, for the Seghers edition.
Very rare example of the pre-original edition of the Guilde du Livre from the Paris suburbs by Robert Doisneau, printed on October 15, 1949. Limited edition print run (copy no. 55). 140 pages and 130 black-and-white photographs printed full-page, excluding text, with 7 on double pages accompanied by captions at the end of the book. The photographs are grouped into eight thematic sections: Kids, Love, Settings, Sundays and Holidays, Leisure, Work, Terminus, Habitations, and are preceded by the text of the writer Blaise Cendrars. Illustrated cover and back jacket.
This is undoubtedly Robert Doisneau's most beautiful book and the one every collector must own. This edition is listed in The Book of 101 Books by Andrew Roth, page 132; in The Photobook by Parr & Badger, vol I, pages 187 and 201; and in '802 photo books from the M. + M. Auer collection', page 336.
To view the photographic series in full screen, double-click on a photograph, with the option to return to the standard display at any time.
Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition with perhaps a very slight color nuance on the back (see photo). Copy carefully preserved; the dust jacket is now protected by a transparent Mylar cover. Shipping is very securely protected and includes guaranteed international postal tracking. For multiple purchases, there is the possibility of combined shipping with a refund of any excess postage paid via Paypal.
