Description from the seller
Gérard Mursic's subjects are as rich as they are varied. Natural landscapes, seascapes, urban environments, still lifes, or floral arrangements are depicted in the artist's oil paintings in a spontaneous and fleeting manner. Evocation is indeed at the heart of his approach, which favors intuition over expression, sensuality over intellect.
Proceeding through additions, removals, and wiping, the artist develops a unique technique that produces subtle effects or, conversely, dynamic movements. Like watercolor, he favors white, which places contrast at the heart of the composition. 'The canvas is a search, an exploration,' affirms Gérard Mursic. Working on shapes and colors, varying rhythms, and experimenting with lights and textures, the artist cherishes the interactions between elements that complement each other but do not resemble one another.
Because it is instinct that shapes the raw material of the painter. Free from the constraints of drawing and representation, Gérard Mursic allows himself to be carried away by his themes into a creative whirlwind. Along the way, the subject sometimes evaporates, disperses, or gets lost, forcing the viewer to also engage in the aesthetic process, taking ownership of the canvas and projecting their imagination onto it.
