Catawiki, debuts its first-ever design collaboration, created exclusively for the platform: a limited-edition series of carpets designed by the Milanese design studio Studiopepe and brought to life by the Danish manufacturer Ege Carpets. This is a cross-border collaboration, and reflects a story of design driven by emotion and craft. At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief in material intelligence, tactile storytelling, and the power of objects to carry more than visual appeal.
A months-long creative exchange between Studiopepe and Ege carpets, the Danish manufacturer, resulted in three design pieces. The rugs—woven from recyclable materials as part of Ege’s closed-loop manufacturing—echo hand-drawn gestures: marks in clay, brushstrokes on fabric, impressions left behind by movement. “It’s a tribute to the beauty of process and imperfection. We hope they invite stillness, curiosity, and a sense of calm, rather than embody loud statements," the designers reflect. Each rug offers a distinct mood, yet all are tied by a common language: forms that feel elemental but never obvious. The materials have been thoughtfully selected and sustainably sourced, carrying the taste of Scandinavian production and the expressive sensibility of Italian design.
