Description from the seller

This spectacular centerpiece or fruit bowl is an outstanding piece of French silversmithing, ideal for collectors and for adding a touch of opulence and historical elegance to any setting.
-Origin: France.
-Style: Rococo. This is reflected in the profuse ornamentation, the curved lines, and the overall design that evokes the grace and movement of the 18th century.
-Approximate Period: Second half of the 19th century, 1840-1900
-Material: Alpaca (also known as Maillechort in France or German silver). A durable material covered with a layer of silver, offering the shine and aesthetic appeal of solid silver.
-Technique: Casting, repoussé, and electroplating. The base and the ornamental details of the swans and handles were cast, while the main bowl and the base feature repoussé work (radial channels). The floral ornamentation was achieved through stamping or embossing.
--Ornamentation
The piece is richly decorated with motifs that accentuate its Rococo style and make it visually stunning:
*Handles: Two elegantly curved handles with scroll and sphere (bead) motifs, emulating plant branches.
*Central Support: The bowl rests on three cast winged mythical swan figures, whose heads are raised toward the bowl, adding a mythological and dramatic detail to the design.
*Base and Bowl: Profuse bands of garlands and floral motifs in relief decorate the lower rim of the bowl and the base pedestal. The bowl and base feature an elegant fluted (shell-like) design, characteristic of the decoration of the period.
-Measurements:
Total Height: 28.2 cm
Height to Bowl Rim: 22.6 cm
Total Width (Handle to Handle): 40 cm
Bowl Diameter (upper rim): 25.8 cm
Base Diameter: 17.5 cm
Swan Height (Approx.): 6.5 cm
-Marked: Yes; The piece has a mark which, although partially visible (see photos), corresponds to the material mark "ALPACA," confirming its composition as silver-plated alpaca.
General Condition: Excellent for its age. The piece is sturdy and complete, without breaks.
Details of Wear: The original silver plating is in a beautiful state of preservation, showing a subtle patina that certifies its age and authenticity. There is slight wear or loss of silver plating inside the deeper channels of the bowl, typical of a piece that has been cleaned and used over decades.
-Versatility: Thanks to its impressive size and elegant design, this centerpiece can be used in multiple ways:
*Centerpiece: Its primary function is to decorate a dining table or sideboard.
*Fruit Bowl/Candy Dish: Ideal for presenting fruit or sweets with great style.
*Display Piece: A work of art in itself, perfect for standing out in a display case or on a shelf.
