Bronze Age Bronze Vessel (No Reserve Price)

A fine Bronze Age bronze vessel featuring a wide globular body. The vessel sits upon a rounded base. The shoulder of the vessel tapers into a short neck and widens into a circular mouth with a slightly everted rim. The interior and exterior of the vessel are unadorned. Earthly encrustations, a green patina, and signs of wear to the surface as consistent with age, such as scratches, flaking, indentations, and warping In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts. Measurements: (circa) H 8.9m x W 10.4cm Provenance: Ex. London collection, acquired 1990s - present. N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas. Items paid for after the 19th December will be shipped after the New Year (week commencing on the 5th January 2026). **There will be an additional fee incurred for returned shipments due to buyer’s non-response to customs enquiries and/or unsuccessful delivery attempts.**
