Set of 3 XL-sized exceptional shellfish Cassis Rufa!
Cassis rufa, or red helmet, is a large marine shell belonging to the Cassidae family. This gastropod is characterized by its thick and sturdy shell, which can reach up to 30 cm in length. It has a globular shape with a flattened base and a low spire. The dorsal side, rounded, displays shades ranging from orange to reddish-brown, often marked with irregular patterns. The ventral side, smoother, reveals a pearly opening colored from cream to orange, bordered by thick, well-visible teeth.
Le Cassis rufa is found in the warm waters of the Indian and Pacific oceans, inhabiting shallow coral reefs and sandy areas. It is known for its ecological role: it primarily feeds on sea urchins, thus contributing to the balance of marine ecosystems. Due to its beauty, it is prized in craftsmanship and collections.
