Description from the seller
General
This Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 750B, built on February 2, 1956, is among the most exceptional early versions within the Giulietta series. The first series – to which this example belongs – was entirely hand-formed from 1954 to 1959, giving the car an extraordinary artisanal appearance. The body parts fit together beautifully and demonstrate the precision with which work was carried out at Bertone in Turin. In total, 10,507 units were produced during this hand-built period before Alfa Romeo switched to machine mass production at the factory in Milan in 1959.
The first version is recognizable by the characteristic license plate lighting in the shape of an airplane, the small headlights, and the small taillights – exactly in accordance with the configuration of this offered example. From 1957, transitional models appeared with varying combinations of large and small headlights and taillights, with the license plate lighting moving to the bumper.
The year of manufacture 1956 also makes this Giulietta Sprint particularly attractive to rally and touring enthusiasts, as cars from this year are eligible to participate in the Mille Miglia, of course subject to approval.
History
According to the Alfa Romeo Automobilismo Storico Centre Documentazione, chassis number AR 1493.01641 corresponds exactly to an original Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint 750B, equipped with engine series AR 1315. The car was manufactured on February 2, 1956, and sold on February 7, 1956, to Hoffman Motor Car Co in New York, USA. The original color was Capri Light Blue.
In 1990, the car was purchased by a European customer, shipped to the Netherlands, and sold to Alfa Romeo specialist Kees Verdoorn in Genderen. In 2006, the Giulietta Sprint became part of the current private collection.
technical condition
The car is equipped with several technical upgrades that improve the driving experience without compromising its classic character. It features a 1300 cc type 105 engine with 88 hp, paired with a five-speed gearbox from the 101 series. The GT Veloce seats, Koni red shock absorbers, and the Veloce exhaust with its corresponding manifold contribute to a sporty and lively driving experience.
The original engine block, with 65 hp and number 1315.01445, is matching and corresponds to the chassis number 1493.01641. This original block will be included with the sale, along with the original seats and the original bumpers at the front and rear.
Exterior
The exterior is in excellent condition. The paint is smoothly applied, without orange peel effect or sags, and shows a uniform gloss across the entire bodywork. Only a small damage at the driver's door is noteworthy. The original color, Capri Light Blue, was previously replaced by Zagato Blue, giving the car an elegant and sporty appearance.
Interior
The interior is finished in black and is in good overall condition with only minor signs of use. The original headliner shows signs of wear or deterioration, consistent with the age and authenticity of the car.
Other Information
The Giulietta Sprint is lovingly maintained and comes with a comprehensive documentation file. The car is stored in a heated garage and is ready to drive immediately.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
