AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The German artist Norbert Bisky (1970) is among the leading representatives of the new figurative painting. He was a student of Georg Baselitz and discovered the works of Francisco de Goya, Francisco de Zurbarán, and Jusepe de Ribeira during a study year (1995) in Madrid. Born in Leipzig, he was influenced by socialism, including the belief in an ideal society. Paradisiacal landscapes, in which adolescents, as semi-naked heroes, engage in battles or fraternize, form an important theme in Fernwärme. A closer look reveals the sometimes gruesome reality, where violence plays a significant role. Norbert Bisky's painting style is characterized by vivid colors and the suggestion of movement.

The book is hardly available, even second-hand. It is in good to very good condition. The corners of the cover are slightly bumped. The excellent reproductions are printed per page—even when smaller—or sometimes across 1 1/3 pages. The publication of this book was prompted by an exhibition at Museum Langmatt in Baden. The perhaps not immediately visible theme of this exhibition was 'family.' Moving is the triptych 'Crafting' (2008) depicted in the book, which is dedicated to the brother of Norbert Bisky who passed away at a young age. The texts are in German, but the English translation is provided at the back.

Due to the consequences of the US president's policies on book shipments, this book will unfortunately not be sent to America.
