Exterior

Who doesn't know it: the iconic Mini. One of the first successful small cars, with a high cuddliness factor, entertaining driving behavior, and worldwide recognition. This example is from the fifth generation and was built in 1989. It is in original condition and features a special body kit that was installed at the time. The car has been owned by the current owner for about 10 years, who has always stored it dry and warm. Visually, the car has a few spots, but these have not changed in the past 10 years. The playful appearance is enhanced by the desirable red color 'Flame Red', which beautifully contrasts with the white striping and the pearl white roof. Original fog lights are mounted at the front. At the rear, a double exhaust is installed. There is also a third brake light. The aforementioned body kit around the car gives it a rugged look. The 13-inch alloy wheels complete its sporty character.

Interior

The interior is in a beautiful and original condition, especially considering the age of the car. The semi-leather upholstery is finished in gray. The front seats are adjustable, and both the front seats and the rear bench have seat belts. Furthermore, the interior features heating and rear window heating. The pedals are sportily finished in aluminum. The headliner is still neat and does not leak. The trunk space includes a spare wheel.

TECHNICAL

Recently, a new battery and new spark plugs were installed. The ignition and the temperature sensor have also been renewed. Under the hood, there is a transverse 998 cc 4-cylinder engine. The engine block is nicely dry, runs smoothly, and consumes almost no oil. The manual transmission has 4 gears. A major advantage is that the car is equipped with disc brakes. The car drives well.

General

The Mini is a timeless two-door/four-passenger compact car that was produced for no less than four decades by BMC, British Leyland, the Rover Group, and ultimately by BMW. In total, more than 5.38 million Minis were built between 1959 and 2000 in various versions—from fastback and estate to convertible and special editions. Its engine even found its way into another 2 million Mini Metros. Originally, the Mini appeared under the names Austin Seven and Morris Mini-Minor until it officially received the brand name 'Mini' in 1969. Today, we know it as the Classic Mini, to distinguish it from the modern MINI models produced by BMW since 2001.

The groundbreaking design by Sir Alec Issigonis made the Mini revolutionary. Thanks to the space-saving transverse engine and front-wheel drive, up to 80% of the floor space could be used for passengers and luggage. This clever technique inspired an entire generation of compact cars and set a new standard in automotive design. Not only technically but also culturally, the Mini made a splash. In 1999, it was named the second most influential car of the 20th century, and it became a symbol of the swinging sixties. With sporty models like the Mini Cooper and Cooper S, which won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965, and 1967, it also proved its performance on an international level. The Mini was built worldwide—from England and Australia to Spain, Italy, South Africa, Uruguay, and many other countries. Even when its successor, the Austin Metro, was launched in 1980, the Mini remained irresistibly popular. Its production only ended in October 2000. The car is famous from television series and movies. The most well-known role a Mini played was in the films of Mr. Bean.
