Siemens Schatulle M47, manufactured in the early 1950s, tested and functional, physical condition: good.
Description from the seller
This Siemens chest-like radio model M47 dates from the early 1950s and features the typical carefully veneered wooden case with fabric covering in front of the speakers. The front can be (partially) opened, allowing the two side covers/doors to reveal the speaker front — creating the characteristic 'chest' appearance. The device has eight or several pre-configured push buttons (local station buttons) and rotary controls for volume and fine-tuning. Visually, the case, trim strips, and scale are in good condition (partially aged patinated); where necessary, they have already been partially cleaned (see photos).
Condition & Function
Electrical: unverified private find / partially overhauled (the tested unit ran on all waves upon request); before use, I recommend a complete inspection by a tube technician (visual inspection of capacitors, power supply, jump contacts, and adjustment).
Appearance: Veneer with age-related signs of use; fabric upholstery mostly original (partially stained); wood lacquer may be chipped locally — see detailed pictures.
This Siemens Schatulle M47 is a premium German tube radio from the early 1950s, built as a large 'Schatulle' (casket-style) model with hinged front/side panels that open to reveal the speaker section. The cabinet is made of veneered wood with original fabric grille and decorative trims typical of the era.
The radio features multiple push-buttons for preset stations and rotary knobs for volume, tuning, and tone control. A tuning indicator ('magic eye') is integrated into the front panel. The overall design and craftsmanship reflect Siemens' top quality in post-war radio.
Condition
Optical: Good original vintage condition with normal age-related wear (small scratches, patina, possible veneer imperfections).
Function not guaranteed due to age. For safe operation, professional inspection is recommended (especially capacitor replacement and power supply check).
