Ancient Egyptian Faience Double Stranded Beaded Necklace with Glass Eye Beads

A restrung ancient Egyptian double stranded necklace, comprised of polychromatic orange and blue glass eye beads interspersed with small dark blue and yellow faience annular beads. The necklace is threaded on thin wire and finished with a gold-plated clasp. Eye beads such as these were popular from the late New Kingdom to the Third Intermediate Period. Eye beads continued to be used right into the Roman period, influenced from Phoenician and Greek craftsmen. Provenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Private collection 1970s-1990s. Measurements: Circa L 24.4cm (half length folded). Full length: 48.5cm N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas.
