Description from the seller

It is a composite Russian Orthodox icon, known as a 'Sostavnáia Ikona' — an icon with several scenes and saints surrounding a central theme.

In the center is the Crucifixion of Christ. Below appears the skull of Adam, a common symbol of Mount Golgotha.

Upper part

Left: The Virgin with the Child, 'Mother of God of Kazán'.

Center: God the Father in heaven and the Dove of the Holy Spirit → representation of the Holy Trinity.

Right: San Nicolás de Mira, well recognized in Russian tradition.

Sides of the Crucified

Left: Probably the Virgin Mary in a mourning posture.

Right: Saint John the Theologian (Evangelist), witness of the Cross.

Lower part (two riders)

They are two saints and very popular soldiers in Russia.

Left: Saint George or Saint Demetrius defeating the dragon (evil).

Right: Saint George or Saint Demetrius in another military variant. Based on the gesture and clothing, it is very likely that:

Left be Saint George

Right San Demetrios of Thessaloniki

These Crucifixion icons with saints protectors were common in the 18th–19th centuries in Russia, used for family protection and personal devotion.
