Description from the seller
Vintage Taxco ring – WDS (Spratling Studio) – Mexico – Sterling silver 925 – Eagle 3 – size 20 – 14.3 g
Heavy vintage men's ring from Taxco, Mexico, hallmarked WDS, Mexico, 925, and with the Eagle 3 hallmark. This hallmark belongs to the later workshop productions of the Spratling Studio in Taxco, which emerged from the workshop of the renowned silversmith William Spratling, founder of modern Mexican silversmithing.
The ring has a striking geometric design, typical of the Spratling school: bold, symmetrical, and industrial-modernist. At its center is a dark cabochon stone, most likely hematite, a stone frequently used in Taxco jewelry from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The ring is solidly made and comfortable to wear thanks to its solid band. In short: a distinctive and collectible piece of Mexican silver with clear studio provenance.
