René Lalique - Vase - R Lalique “Domrémy” Opalescent Vase circa 1926 - Glass

Maker: René Lalique. Model: Domrémy, no. 979. Place and date: France, Wingen-sur-Moder, design 1926. Material: Press-moulded opalescent glass with high-relief thistles. Signature: Engraved R. LALIQUE FRANCE No 979 under the base. Dimensions: Height 21.5 cm. Created soon after Lalique opened his Wingen-sur-Moder factory in 1922, the Domrémy belongs to his first opalescent series of the mid-1920s, prized for their blue-to-amber play of light. The name honors Domrémy-la-Pucelle, birthplace of Joan of Arc, while the thistle motif refers to Lorraine and the renewed French identity of the interwar years. The model is documented in Félix Marcilhac, René Lalique 1860–1945, cat. no. 979. Condition: Good overall. Light age wear and surface marks. Tiny nicks to the foot rim and one shallow chip (not very visible).
