Description from the seller

This extraordinary Hamilton Square from 1926 represents a masterpiece of American watchmaking of the era. The 14K white gold case encloses a particularly luminous dial, a distinctive feature of models in this series.
The 986A movement, equipped with 17 jewels and caliber 6/0, guarantees the reliability characteristic of Hamilton mechanisms of this generation. What makes this particular example especially interesting is its transition to the 987 movement, introduced in 1927 with the addition of the second hand.
The dimensional differences between these two calibers necessitated the creation of dedicated cases, giving the Square models of 1926 and 1927 a unique construction.
In the same period, Hamilton expanded their collection with the 'geometric' Barrel model in 1927 and the Tonneau shape in 1928, consolidating their position in the international watch market.

The Square remained in production until 1930, available in both men's and women's versions. Notably, it lacks the register for the second hand in the 986A movement, a feature that gives this watch a particular charm, testament to functional elegance without compromise. Dimensions: 35 x 28 mm.

Seller's Story

Exclusive jewels, rare pocket or wrist watches, refined silverware, that's what we work with! In the last 15 years we also developed investment gold and certified diamonds' branch. We aim to bring our sophisticated clientele back to that refined time when the splendid object overshadowed its container, doing our best in fulfilling their quest for a particular item, as desirable as this may be, as much as directing them towards something yet to be unveiled . We are speciazlized in jewelry restoration: it requires several technical steps in order to bring each piece as close as possible to its original condition. Many processes are used to restore jewelry including cleaning, polishing, replacing lost stones, re-cutting chipped diamonds and gemstones, repairing broken and worn prongs, thickening bezel walls, fixing bent shanks, replacing worn or broken shanks, engraving, applying filigree or millegraining , even removing incorrect “repairs” and poorly performed solder seams.
