Lavabo - Bronze - Bronze Sink

Beautiful old cast bronze/brass Lavabo.
This comes from a Catholic church in the Netherlands.

A lavabo was used to wash the hands prior to Communion and the distribution of hosts during Mass.

Presumably this was made later, Flemish, in the late 19th century.
Old bronze lavabo with two spouts and a hanging mechanism, cast in two pieces.
They are used for washing hands at mealtimes.

A lavabo (Latin for ‘I shall wash’), also called lavacrum or lavatorium, is a medieval basin used for washing the hands before the ritual washing in the church.
