Set of 3 late Roman bronze crossbow fibulae (3rd–4th century AD), total weight about 75 g and length 6.2–7.0 cm, in good condition with a stable patina and minor wear; from a private collection, Belgium, acquired in 1995.

Set of 3 Roman crossbow fibulae – bronze (3rd–4th century AD)
Three authentic Roman crossbow brooches, typical of the late imperial period. Such brooches were worn on the shoulder to fasten the cloak and served as a status symbol for Roman officers and officials.
Description:
Three specimens with characteristic crossarms, spherical ends, and a central arch.
Varying in detail and execution.
Beautiful example of late Roman military decorative and functional craftsmanship.
Material: bronze
Period: Late Roman Empire, c. 3rd–4th century AD
Dimensions: 6.2 – 7.0 cm
Total weight: approx. 75 g
Condition: well-preserved ground finds with stable patina, slight wear due to age (see photos) and the pin may have been restored.
Provenance: private collection, Belgium / Central Europe
A particularly fine set illustrating the typical formal development of the Roman crossbow fibula — rare in this complete condition.
