Name: Meteorite; Main mineral: Mookaite; Mineral form/type: Australian Mookaite Sphere; Country of origin: Australia; Origin: Carnarvon region, Western Australia near Mooka Creek.
Description from the seller
This magnificent sphere is carved from mookaite, an extraordinary sedimentary gemstone, symbol of the ancient lands of Western Australia. A unique palette of vibrant colors and stratifications that tell the story of its long geological history.
Mookaite formed millions of years ago when silica-rich sediments were deposited in shallow marine environments, gradually transforming into jasper under the influence of geological pressures and chemical processes. The presence of iron oxides and other minerals enriched the stone with an extraordinary range of colors: from deep red to ochre yellow, to pearly white. Its colors and veins evoke the arid, wild landscapes of the Australian bush. The term 'mookaite' derives from 'Mooka Creek,' a location whose name in the Aboriginal language means 'many waters,' referring to the natural springs in the area.
The red and yellow tones of mookaite are considered symbols of energy and vitality, while white represents purity and mental clarity.
The fine lines and variations in tone are the result of environmental changes that this stone has undergone during millions of years of sedimentation and silicification.
Mookaite is a variety of microcrystalline quartz (jasper), enriched with clay materials and iron oxides.
Extracted exclusively in the Carnarvon region, in Western Australia, near Mooka Creek, a sacred site for the Aboriginal peoples.
Mookaite is revered by the Australian Aboriginal peoples, who consider it a stone connected to the earth and ancestral energies. According to tradition, Mookaite promotes grounding and helps navigate life's changes, symbolizing the strength and stability of the Australian landscape.
