Bronze spear point from Cyprus, Early Bronze Age, circa 2500–2000 BC, 47.5 cm long, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptional bronze spearhead, Cyprus, Early Bronze Age, circa 2500-2000 BC.
Lanceolate blade of very great length with a prominent central ridge, surrounded by two finely engraved margins.
The base of the blade features two small notches, a sharp point, and a curved tang at the end.
Dimensions: length 47.5 cm - width 4.3 cm.
Archaeological state, attractive dark green and brown copper oxide patina, slight twists, dark green patina.
Similar specimens are visible in New York at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 74.51.5278.
This piece has been appraised by Sylvain LAMOTTE, an expert member of the CNES (National Chamber of Experts Specializing in Art and Collectibles).
