Document folder manufactured in 1955.

Bakelite, invented in 1908 by the Belgian-American Léo Baekeland, was initially used for the war industry, and then throughout the entire industry.

Friedrich Karl Schroeder founded the office machines company F.K.S. in 1925.

The manufacture of document folders began in 1954.
The first model, A22, precursor to the FB22 in metal, was designed for folding A4-sized documents, as defined by the German Institute for Standardization, at the same time.

Later, F.K.S. specialized in finishing machines for printing houses.
