The Nats (နတ်) are divine spirits worshipped in Myanmar and neighboring countries in connection with Buddhism. They are divided into the 37 Great Nats, a status granted to them by King Anawrahta when he formalized the official list of Nats.

These Nats are worshiped and offerings are made for protection, but also out of fear to keep them satisfied.
