Two handmade glass objects by German artist Hubert Koch (1932–2010): a vase (13 cm high, 10 cm at the top, 5 cm bottom, 9.5 cm deep) and a cat sculpture (approx. 14.5 cm high, about 20 cm long, 5 cm deep), constructed from coloured soft glass blowen for the burner with multicolour powder and wire fusions, signed with the monogram HK on the base, originating from Lauscha, Germany, dating to the 1960s–1980s, in good used condition with minor signs of age and spots and no chips or cracks, scratches.

A vase and a cat handcrafted by the renowned German artist Hubert Koch (1932-2010).
Period: 1960-1980.
Material & technique: colored soft glass, blown for the burner. Multicolored powder and wire fusions with characteristic swirl and line patterns.
Signature vase: base with artist's monogram 'HK' (melted glass wire).
Dimensions:
Vase: height 13 cm, top width 10 cm, bottom width 5 cm, depth 9.5 cm
Kat: height 14.5 cm, length approximately 20 cm, depth 5 cm.

Koch was born in May 1932 in Lauscha. From 1947 to 1950, he trained as a glassblower, attended the Glass Technical School in Lauscha, and graduated with the Journeyman's examination. In 1956, he passed the master craftsman exam after working in various companies in Lauscha. Since 1962, Koch has worked as an independent craftsman, developing into a sought-after manufacturer of glass eyes for taxidermists and creating artisanal work in lamp technology. In 1973, he became a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR. For his artistic work, he received numerous awards, including an honorary diploma in 1978 at the II. Quadriennale of Socialist Countries' artisans and in 1977 at the Coburg Glass Prize for Modern Glass Design in Europe, a certificate for outstanding achievements, and a special prize in 1985. Museums around the world have included his work in their collections.
Since 1991, Hubert Koch was a member of the Verband Bildender Künstler Thüringen e.V. On the 27th, he passed away in December 2011 in Lauscha.
