Portrait of a man with a beard, an oil painting from the Netherlands dating to 1929.
Description from the seller
This painting depicts an imposing male figure, cloaked in a heavy, warm red coat. The man has a full, dark beard and looks sideways away from the viewer, as if his attention is directed at something outside the frame. The light subtly falls on his face and upper body, causing the facial features and folds of the coat to gently stand out against the dark, almost black background.
The work is painted in the style of Titian and clearly evokes the Venetian masters of the Renaissance: deep shadows, warm earth tones, and a dramatic, intimate play of light. The mysterious atmosphere and the dignified posture of the figure give the portrait an almost timeless, historical appearance.
The work is available for viewing at our gallery. Furthermore, Art Dumay has a framing shop (celebrating their 85th anniversary this year) and a restoration studio. If you wish to make use of these services, we would be happy to hear from you.
