Description from the seller
Beautiful navette-shaped bowl with original box. The bowl was designed by Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) for Christofle in the 1960s.
Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) was an Italian goldsmith and designer. As a self-taught artist, he studied metallurgy at a copper factory. In 1955, he moved to Milan, where he established his own workshop. There, he met Gio Ponti, who helped him gain international recognition, particularly by exhibiting his creations in Paris. Thanks to this growing reputation, he served as design director at Christofle from 1956 to 1963. He designed everyday objects with a minimalist aesthetic for the renowned goldsmith house. In 1964, he founded his own factory, Argenteria Sabattini, in Bregnano (Lombardy). Today, his works are displayed in prestigious institutions such as MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
