Who is Govert de Roos?
Govert's carreer started at a very young age and was ignited by his love for popular music. With his youthful enthousiasm he finds a way to gain access to live concerts where he is in the front row, shooting his pictures among professional and established photographers. After that, you could always find him honing his craft in his dark room.
In 1969, when he was 15 years old, he used a fake press card to get into the famous Bed-In session John Lennon and Yoko Ono held in the Hilton Hotel, Amsterdam. This was his start of something special.Slowly Govert became a well-desired photographer and had the privilege to work with amazing artists such as Michael Jackson, Kate Bush, Grace Jones, Blondie, Sade, Joe Cocker, George Martin, Leonard Cohen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emmylou Harris and many others.
A broad variety of Dutch artists, among whom Kayak, Rob de Nijs, Patricia Paay and Andre Hazes, only trusted Govert to take their photo’s for many years.
