This is a beautiful, colorful flower still life by Jan Altink, who was part of the Groningen group.
The painting is signed bottom left and dated 1940.
This beautiful, colorful work is mounted in a valuable frame by the firm Paul Gering and is an absolute enrichment in any interior.
Jan Altink enrolled in 1900 at the Academie Minerva as a student in the evening course. During his studies, he won many prizes and medals. In 1911, he obtained his M.O. Drawing certificate. He earned his income by teaching evening drawing courses and working as a decorative painter. In March 1918, he participated with four oil paintings in the Pictura exhibition at the museum. In May 1918, he was one of the founders of the Kunstkring De Ploeg, for which he also came up with the name. Between 1925 and 1932, he created advertising work for Vroom and Dreesman in Zwolle and Meppel. He was capable of developing suitable designs for any desired purpose. In 1933, he was part of the exhibition committee for the De Ploeg anniversary exhibition at Fongers.
