2020 Castellare di Castellina, I Sodi di San Niccolò - Tuscany IGT - 2 Bottles (0.75L)

Shipping only in UE!! Sodi di S. Niccolò was one of the stars of the tasting and one of a handful of Super Tuscans made exclusively with native vines: 85% sangiovese, and 15% malvasia nera. The label and its iconic bird celebrate the winery's daily commitment to sustainable viticulture for over 40 years. Winemaker Alessandro Cellai did a masterful job in 2020, producing an intensely polished Super Tuscan that has power and refinement at once and at only five years of age. The spice, the fruit, and the tannins are as one, resulting in a silky, long layered red with an enticing mouthfeel and taste. Savoury and complex, this is one for collectors and wine lovers. 2020 was an excellent warm growing season in Tuscany that culminated in a dry fall. Post-fermentation, the wine went into barriques (50% new), for about two and a half years. After resting in concrete, it was aged another eight months in a bottle before release. This will last through 2040.
