Description from the seller
Fascinating and substantial 19th-century manuscript, titled:
Little book in which all the masses celebrated by me, Sacerdote Ferdinando M. Lucá, ordained to the priesthood on December 19, 1836, are recorded.
It is an autograph manuscript, written with a steady and orderly hand, in which the priest meticulously notes all the masses celebrated during his pastoral activity.
The provenance indicated is Calabrian, with the format of the register (34 x 12 cm) typical of lectern books used in southern parishes of the nineteenth century.
The covered time span is particularly broad: 1836–1861, a full 25 years of documented priestly activity without interruption.
The manuscript comprises 196 pages filled with dated annotations, names, sustained masses, and references to the daily rhythm of nineteenth-century parochial life.
Registers of this extension, which cover a quarter of a century of priestly activity, are relatively rare on the market.
The long format gives the volume a particular charm and immediate archival recognizability.
The manuscript offers a valuable snapshot of local religious life before Italy's Unification, making it interesting not only for manuscript collectors but also for scholars, archivists, and genealogists.
Conditions
Internal pages in good condition, perfectly readable.
The first 8–10 pages show slight marginal stains due to age, without compromising the text. There are also light stains on a limited number of pages.
Binding or cover: fair condition, with normal signs of wear consistent with continued use over decades.
Overall, an intact, authentic document of historical interest.
