Louis XVI / neoclassical style ceiling chandelier, estimated ca. 1900–1930, made of brass (vergulde mess ing), glass and crystal with six fittings and a 50 cm diameter.
Description from the seller
Very decorative antique chandelier in Louis XVI / neoclassical style, made circa 1900–1930, with a richly detailed metal structure (bronze or brass) and original crystal elements.
The central dome is constructed from a fine metal frame with faceted crystal beads in 'basket' style. Surrounding it are various cut crystal pendants that beautifully refract light. The three arms are decorated with classical putti/angel figures and carry ribbed opal glass tulips in flower shape (one of which is missing).
The chandelier still features its original neoclassical ornamentation: flower garlands, rosettes, arrow ornaments, and a richly decorated canopy at the bottom. The entire piece hangs from a heavy chain and a detailed ceiling rosette.
Electrically functional, but as with all antique lighting, rewiring for modern use is recommended.
A special piece for restoration or decoration in classic interiors, mansions, restaurants, or film sets.
To be picked up in Antwerp.
