Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky, bottled by Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown, Scotland, at 46% ABV, 70cl (2 x 70cl) with original packaging.
Description from the seller
All five malts from the region’s three distilleries have been used to create this Campbeltown Loch Blended Malt Scotch Whisky.
Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, it is blended and bottled at Springbank Distillery in Campbeltown.
Campbeltown Loch is almost a loving tribute to the small, windswept whisky town of Campbeltown on the Kintyre Peninsula. It takes its name from the iconic loch around which the town sits, and the bottle carries a similar atmosphere: calm, salty, and slightly old-fashioned in a charming way.
The whisky itself is a blended malt made from Campbeltown distillates, giving it a distinct local character. You’ll find a mix of maritime notes, like sea breeze and rope, with a hint of smoke that never overpowers. There’s also a fine balance between the malt’s sweetness and the drier, lightly earthy tones so typical of the region.
What makes Campbeltown Loch particularly appealing is that it is both approachable and honest. It tastes like Campbeltown feels: robust yet friendly; traditional without being dusty; complex without demanding that you dissect every nuance. It works equally well as an everyday dram or a small mental getaway to the west coast when you need a brief vacation in a glass.
If you enjoy whisky with character without being overwhelmed, Campbeltown Loch is a wonderful introduction to one of Scotland’s most distinctive whisky towns.
Tasting notes:
Nose: A pronounced buttery note and characteristic hint of sea salt greet the dram, along with notes of gingerbread and pecan tart.
Palate: Creamy coffee, salted caramel, date syrup, and crystallized brown sugar on the palate, with a subtle touch of peat smoke.
Finish: The peat smoke builds in the finish, accompanied by a leathery note that evolves over time.
