"Stavo guidando lungo una strada tra Jodhpur e Jaisalmer nel Rajasthan, India. Era soleggiato e faceva un caldo soffocante, circa 110 °F (43 °C), quando il cielo si è improvvisamente oscurato ed è iniziata una tempesta di polvere pre-monsonica. Mentre la tempesta diventava più forte e più drammatica, l'aria si è fatta densa di polvere. Attraverso la foschia, potevo vedere queste donne ammassate insieme ai lati della strada per proteggersi dal vento impetuoso. Questa regione soffriva di siccità da più di un decennio e le donne stavano cantando una preghiera per la pioggia. Sono sceso dall'auto, ho attraversato di corsa un campo e le ho fotografate pochi istanti prima che la tempesta sparisse. Poi è uscito subito il sole, come se nulla fosse mai accaduto".
