Description from the seller
Vintage and rare photographic magazine "Camera Craft", from January 1916, published by Fayette J. Clute, of the Camera Craft Publishing Co., in San Francisco (United States). The magazine is in very good condition (rare in this condition), considering it is 110 years old.
Camera Craft, based in San Francisco, began publication with volume 1, no. 1, May 1900 edition, and ceased publication with volume 49, no. 3, March 1942 edition, when it was absorbed by American Photography magazine.
This magazine was dedicated to practical photography illustrated with photographs, and each issue contained an artistic photographic print. It was the official publication of the California Association of Photographers from November 1922 to January 1925, and subsequently of other similar organizations. It also featured reports from the International Photographic Association and advertisements for cameras, photographic equipment, services, and supplies for the professional photographer. The magazine was an important vehicle for writers on the subject, such as William Mortensen, who promoted Pictorialism, and Ansel Adams, who advocated a purist approach to photography. Other important contributors included Imogen Cunningham, John Paul Edwards, Willard Van Dyke, and Edward Weston.
This is a rare find for photography collectors or lovers of industrial history.
