Description from the seller
Mid-19th century Carlo X chest of drawers, made a few years after the start of the period but fully consistent with the formal style of early Carlo X furnishings.
The furniture appears solid and well-structured, composed of four drawers: three larger ones and a smaller upper drawer, arranged in a classic and balanced layout.
The sides are tulip-shaped, a distinctive element of the period that lends grace and movement to the structure, emphasized by the rounded onion-shaped feet, elegant and dynamic. The design of the walnut feather is extraordinary, crafted in mirror image and entirely derived from the same tree, as evidenced by the continuity and natural flow of the grain.
The handles and vents are all original, as are the drawer linings, except for one that has been replaced. The back and rear nailings are original. Signs of termite infestation, now extinct, are present; the furniture has been fumigated to ensure the wood's complete health. Notable are a small defect on the rear foot (visible in the photo) and the absence of a lock; the key does not function properly.
An authentic, elegant chest of drawers with a strong presence.
