Iron Age Bronze Bangle (No reserve price)

An Iron Age bronze penannular bangle formed from one continuous rod of metal. The bangle features a regular loop which reaches two overlapping terminals. The terminals are slightly flared and feature flattened faces. A green patina and earthly encrustations to the surface. Signs of wear as consistent with age, such as minor surface pitting and scratches. Metal jewellery is one of the most significant features of Iron Age life, discovered as valued grave goods, buried with men and women alike. The wealthiest burials were those of warriors and princes, often containing exquisitely made bronze swords, spears, and jewellery. It was a very important part of many Iron Age societies and something that held great value as a major part of their identity. Bronze bangles, such as this beautiful example, may have been worn as bracelets or armbands. Measurements: (circa) Internal diameter 5.9cm x H 1.1cm Provenance: Ex. London collection, acquired 1990s-present. N.B. Delivery may be longer due to the busier period and we do not guarantee delivery before Christmas. Items paid for after the 19th December will be shipped after the New Year (week commencing on the 5th January 2026). **There will be an additional fee incurred for returned shipments due to buyer’s non-response to customs enquiries and/or unsuccessful delivery attempts.**
