Occasionally, the Taperecorder Museum offers an object from its collection.
This time, it concerns a beautiful serviced PHILIPS tape recorder from the mid-1960s.
The recorder has, among other features, the following characteristics:
- 1 speed (9.5 cm/s)
Single-button simple operation
4 tracks
Year of construction 1964
Portable recorder with built-in amplifier / speaker
including dust cover
Connecting to an amplifier/computer is also possible.
- including a full and an empty reel with music from the 60s
Enjoying playing old records again or making beautiful new recordings myself.
The sound is very beautiful; both the recording and playback sound like new again!
Maximum spool diameter is 15 cm.
The following work has been carried out to bring the device to this condition.
Old, worn-out strings and their remnants removed, completely cleaned.
New drive belts installed.
Switches and controllers have been cleaned to prevent cracking and buzzing.
- rotating and moving parts: old grease removed and re-greased or oiled
Faulty capacitors in the amplifier section have been replaced.
This is a beautiful iconic tape recorder that can last for years again.
The highest quality recordings are achieved by using a new band.
