Description from the seller

Silver rattle replaced the pacifier for young children, with the chewable part made of smooth bone. In the early 1800s, it was customary to gift it at birth or baptism. Sometimes made from precious materials, as in this case, it was also used to entertain the child with four finely crafted bells, and the rounded tip turned into a fun whistle. The marks are quite worn, so I tested it with a special solvent, which confirmed it is silver, as shown in the photos where the test with the reagent appears ruby red. The total weight is 28 grams, while the silver part (which is sectionable) weighs 16.5 grams. The lot is offered only to European countries, in addition to England. Please note that, due to the wear and tear over time, the marks cannot be verified, and I assume responsibility for any return shipping costs.
