Miguel Carbajal (1986) - Birds of Paradise
Miguel Carbajal studied photography at the Instituto Peruano de Arte y Diseño in Lima, Peru and
later developed his painting practice independently,
following the lineage of self-taught artists such as Van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, and Basquiat,
whose autonomy shaped powerful and personal visual languages.
Drawing from Impressionism, Expressionism, Surrealism and Art Brut,
his work blends symbolic abstraction, color and inner perception.
Birds of Paradise presents two birds standing face-to-face,
mirroring one another while embodying opposite energies.
One emerges in warm, fiery hues; the other in deep, cool tones.
The composition vibrates with harmony and tension,
expressing the unseen dance of polarity that shapes human relationships.
This work is a meditation on love, balance, and the inner union of anima and animus.
Birds of Paradise belongs to the series Threads of Connection, a body of work centered on the invisible forces that unite us.
“Love is not an idea; it is the invisible current that moves us toward one another.”
This series explores vulnerability, intimacy, polarity, and emotional resonance.
Each piece reveals the subtle interactions that arise when one heart meets another.
Within this context, Birds of Paradise stands as a key work,
embodying the harmony and dynamic tension that define meaningful connection.
